KAIL organized two ARPILLERA trainings, as media for community organizing in Bandung, 18 of February and 19th of March 2007. Arpillera is a handmade art using unused clothes. It was developed in Chile by oppressed women who loose their sons and husbands under Pinochet regime. It has been used as media for women to work together facing their trauma and sadness, and communicate it to outside world.
In Indonesia, Arpillera was used by UPLINK (Urban Poor Linkage) as media for trauma healing for urban poor women who experienced evictions and Acehnese women, who experienced tsunami in 2004. Since then, KAIL also use it as media for facilitation and training.
